Inlays and onlays are restorations used to repair the back teeth that show mild to moderate amount of decay, or to restore cracked, chipped teeth, provided the damage is not so important as to need a dental crown. As they can be performed with tooth-colored materials, inlays and onlays are frequently used to replace metal restorations in patients who long for a more natural-like smile.
